What is Personalized Pain Diagnostics (PPD)? PPD is the approach we developed at Desert Institute for Spine care. First, we define the problem as specifically as possible; then we apply the latest technology. That's why communication is at the heart of PPD. WE LISTEN. We ask. We get to know the unique human being who has one or more painful problems. We don't lump your personal pathologic medical problems together and simply assign you an ID number. Is it really different? Definitely. We also give you information. During this visit and throughout the diagnostic and treatment processes, our ideas about your pain are explained clearly, honestly and realistically, every step of the way. You get all the facts, so you can make an informed decision - and be at ease with your personalized treatment plan. Your first visit to Desert Institute for Spine Care may look and feel a little different than you've experienced within other spine specialists.. We still use MRIs, X-rays and scans -- and we'll look at relevant medical and personal information, including prior medical studies -- but the steps we follow are very thorough, organized and deliberate:
